He received his diploma from the Gdansk State Higher School of Fine Arts in 1958 in the studio of Stanislaw Teisseyre. Since 1960 he has been working at the academy, and since 1982 he has been running his own graduate studio at the Faculty of Painting. Since 1994, he has been a full professor. Since his early years, in his works he has been in constant dialogue with the past, drawing on the experience of Dutch painters of the 17th century and old Gdansk painting. He paints mainly archaized still lifes, often with vanitative elements, allegorical and biblical scenes and portraits with subdued colors. He has participated in many exhibitions both at home and abroad. He is the recipient of many awards, including the Piotr Potworowski Award and the award of the Minister of Culture.
